Скачал недавно свое первое Linux-ядро (до этого было 2.6.9.5 на RHEL) и 
решил поставить. Распаковал. #make menuconfig не работает, сообщение о 
том, что экран должен быть больше! Провел #make xconfig:

Скомпилировал все, всплывали иногда сообщения, что, дескать, некоторые 
файлы deprecated (имеют устаревшую версию), но все вроде бы впорядке. 
Сделал #make install, ядро поставилось без ошибок. Пытаюсь грузить 
(GRUB), из двух предложенных ядер выбрал новое, сообщения:

Загрузился через старое ядро, провел все по новой, заглянул в папку 
/boot. Для старого ядра там есть config-2.6.9.5, для нового - нет. 
Скопировал туда файл .config, созданный командой #make xconfig, теперь 
сообщения:

Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel
Red Hat nash version 4.1.18 starting
Enforcing mode requested but no policy loaded. Halting now.
kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

Я так понимаю, проблема с авторизацией?..
